Basically it works by sending small electrical current through your body, and this encourages your body to produce adrenalin, your body's natural pain-killer. It's basically an alternative pain-reliever for a natural birth.
i'll update more about the performance of this machine after the labour ok...
p/s: I had a doctor's appointment today. The diabetic doctor was very pleased with my glucose levels after taking the tablets and so now i don't have to prick my fingers everyday anymore! and also since the baby is growing well...and still small-sized...i will not have to be induced early...alhamdulillah...

bila due?
Yay for getting your glucose levels under control and not having an induction!
We purchased a tens machine for my first birth but never got to use it as I was 8-9cm by the time I got to the delivery suite. Packed it up for my second birth but forgot about the booster button. Decided to use it just because we had it and not because I needed it LOL. Strange sensation is all I can say.
wow.. ada machine cenggitu eh? 1st time tahu..:)
semoga segalanya dipermudahkan ye. good luck aida...
based on my experience it helped a bit before labour was established. I found out that breathing technique is the most essential skill to have natural labour without any pain relief. I asked the midwife to assist me with the breathing technique. We did it together. There was a midwife with me all the time, maybe she went out a short while to the toilet, but as far as i can remember, midwife was by my side all the way. So... get to know her, chatting can distract the pain, and the breathing was very helpful. I hope i can find as good midwife in msia.

kat sini pon ade gak TENS machine tu but not used widely for mommies in labor. usually pakai analgesia pump je kalo kat hospitals..mahal x machine tuh kat sane
i dh pakai tens..mine elle tens sbb snang nk cr spare electrode..mamatens, special electrode..okla...i gune sampai labor...hihihi...breathing technique pun ok..tp sbb dh lupa...i depends on tens pulak kali ni...
anonymous,
jan 19. insyaAllah..
melina,
you only started using it in the delivery room? boleh guna dari rumah ke tak eh?
lailasani,
a'ah...thank you..
akak,
wait..what breathing technique???i've never learnt that...camne tu??
fini,
harga dia oklah...around 70-80 pounds..
joely,
mcmana pakai tens, helpful tak? breathing technique tu ape ek...tolong...
I never used it from home as I had a silent labour with my first. Didn't feel any pain at all and I only went to hospital because it was my due date, felt a strange dampness and my mum forced me to call the delivery suite. I was confident I would be sent home again but turns out I was ready to pop.
Didn't use it with my second from home as I was admitted immediately following a show because of the silent labour with my first. I seriously have a high pain threshold and hopefully it will continue with all subsequent births I'll have.....insyaAllah. I tak tau what a contraction was until the midwife pointed it out to me once I was all strapped to the monitoring thingy. So the tens was taken out just to pass the time.....suka2 gitukan.
Yeah just listen to your midwife and you should be just fine. I was lucky enough to have very experienced midwives attend to both births. Flukely both were Malaysians! My second was 4kgs and not a nick on me. No stitches at all. I ikut exactly what my midwife told me to do....takut sgt koyak kan. Only pushed when she told me to.
bestnye melina..4 kg no tear..mine..the tear sama mcm epi for the first one..breathing technique tu just to distract u from thinking of the labor pain..ok la guna tens tu..the pain still bearable until 7cm gitu...after that...dah mcm2 bunyik kuarle...:P
breathing technique, to breath out when you are having contraction, and then breath in between contractions. In a way it helps, sbb bila nak push, you will get the strongest contraction, dan masa tu instead of breathing out, tahan napas, dan you push the baby out heheheh... tapi kalau dah sakit blh confused the rythm, so you can ask the midwife to do it with you (in my case i was strapped to ctg scan... tapi i requested to stand up, and freely move... did that to reduce the pain, compared to just lying on my back on the bed) let ur midwife knows of ur wishes. selalunya org2 puteh ni dia org ada birth plan... my first baby dulu, tak buat pun, so bila ditanya tak de... bila time kena buat decision, i did it on the spot. But for my second one i did list my wishes, so the midwife help to fulfill my wishes hehehhe.. best kan... kalau nak solat, ke nak azan kan baby, nak potong apa tali pusat ke apa... you can write that down on your birth plan (i discussed things that i wasn't sure with during normal checkup dgn midwife)... cubalah google for a sample... i even put rank of pain relief if i ever needed one...

Memang lega tak koyak because I remember the midwife saying oooo this baby is big when I was pushing and start crowning. I was thinking that's it lah for sure koyak but so teramat lega all was intact. And according to midwife I shouldn't tear for subsequent births either. She's been a midwife for 40 years and have delivered over 1000 babies kan. She's even delivered babies whose mum she delivered! Oh yeah make sure you tell them you want the placenta to take home kan. Nanti terbuang plak.
wahh...bagusnya kt uk die leh control kasi xkoyak...mine doc control2 gak..tp koyak gak..tu pelik bin ajaib....mebe silap push kot...i fail bab push2 ni...mujur ade nurse tolong...yeha i guess kt UK mesti lg best bersalin....i did request kt doc nk bgn berjln..if not..u knowlah malaysia...kene berbaring sampai dilate 10cm....berjanggut lah~
Sorry menyampuk but i can't help to envy the docs/midwife in UK. cause i do have gynae-UK/Ireland-grad friends who tried to implement in Malaysian's hospital the method of pushing at the right time to prevent from KOYAK, but it was totally rejected! it seems like all Malaysian's hospital will opt for episiotomy. macam WAJIB. Can't our hospital do the same in minimizing out pain? Not everybody has a high pain threshold you know, especially not me.
Selamat bersalin Aida!
whao, all this mommy-giving-birth talk sounds exciting.. ;D all the best Aida! hope all is fine
Hi am looking every where to buy this TENS machine , can u advised me where to buy in Malaysia ? How well it works for u ?
Sy pernah pakai tens machine ni masa deliver my 1st baby kt Belfast. Deal with the hosp, a week before due date, leh amik tens kt spital (if available... booking masa kelas pre-natal).. kebetulannya, hari nak amik tens kat spital sy mula sakit starting from subuh... call the hosp that morning, the midwife inform just wait at home until the interval between 10 mins... takleh handle, that night gi spital trus, pick up the tens from midwife n tru pakai smpi esok.... very comforting sbb kita leh set baper kuat booster tu nak pakai...
also i'm opt for water birth... seronok sgt... tp xde rezeki kena naik atas katil gak utk deliver sbb syarat2 water birth dah dipenuhi (dah melebihi masa dok dalam air n baby still xmo keluar)..
having a baby kat UK very2 relaxing because the help of midwives (n student midwives)....
