Baju kurung kedah

My Atok's (org johor panggil nenek atok) has been wearing this type of baju kedah everyday for as long as I could remember. The sleeves are cropped and the length short, making it comfortable, and enables her to work without the clothes getting in the way.

The construction of this traditional baju is very simple. Just 3 rectangles, for the body, and sleeves. The sizing is more or less free size too, because baju kedah is normally worn with plenty of ease. I borrowed one of her baju kedah and tried to learn how to make one.

A couple of pockets on the front. For practical reasons rather than decorative.

It was simple to make but also very wearable, and pleasantly traditional. I made the one in the picture for my mother inlaw and Opah....I have a feeling more of these are coming...
