Potty Training, Day 4

It was as though we took one step forward on Day 3 and then one step backwards on Day 4.

The day started well enough. After his shower and I was putting on his clothes, I told him as usual;

Mommy : Adam, Adam dah big boy now kan? Adam tak payah pakai pampers dah ok...
Adam: ha...potty! *tunjuk his potty*
Mommy: Very good Adam! Kalau nak pee where?
Adam: there! potty! *tunjuk potty*
Mommy: Kalau poop?
Adam: there! *tunjuk potty*

He already understood the concept now. However, yesterday was about testing his limits, I think. It's like he wanted to see what will happen if he purposely does not pee or poo in the potty.

He had 3 accidents yesterday, 2 of which are done while looking at me and seeing my reaction. I regret to inform you that at the third incident I totally lost it and lashed out at him. It was so much harder without my husband around. When my husband got home from work, he found me in tears and Adam asleep on the couch (lps kene marah).

I wonder if potty training is a test for Adam or for me?

May today bring improvements for Adam and patience for me.

relax aida.. don't be so stress & be too hard on adam.. some kids are not ready yet for new things.. for example my nephew, he started potty train when he was 3 1/2 yrs old and only need a few days to graduate.. kejap je with no hassle.. i potty trained nadhrah when she was 2 yr 3mons.. but a lot of accidents and i stopped for awhile and continue with full diaper again.. maybe she's just not ready for it.. so i started again when she was 2yrs 5mons.. and it took only 1 week with minimal accidents..

maybe you can show to him how you make use of the toilet bowl yourself.. and why bigboy use toilet bowl instead of diaper..

take it easy.. it's a learning curve to all of us.. and learning should be FUN!!

Salam,

Love reading your blog.

I trained my daughter when she was 3. I knew she was ready and it was easy, took us one week je pun. I also bought her a book called "what to expect when you use a potty" by Heidi Murkoff, as a heads up. Good Luck.
